Triple Crown Venues
The Triple Crown, organised by Andy Groom, will be held at 3 of the very best windsurfing venues in the UK. All have been part of the International Windsurfing Calendar for over 20 years.
Brandon Bay, Dingle, South-West Ireland.
7-10th May
Brandon Bay is on the Dingle Peninsula in the far West of Ireland. It's a regular venue on the World Windsurfing Tour, and is truely a world class wavesailing spot. The Waves travel across the atlantic and Brandon Bay is the first place they hit.
Huge mast high waves are common place here, with the best wave sailing at mid tide when it's on the push.
Bigbury, Devon.
9-12th September
Bigbury has been known as one of the top wave sailing spots in UK since the 80's, when it was a regular feature of the UK windsurfing event calendar.
The best conditions are in a westerly, with mast high waves pumping through Burgh Island and the mainland on a high tide.
SW, NE & NW is good to, but southerly is direct on shore.
Isle of Tiree, Argyll, Scotland.
9-16th October
The Isle of Tiree is the most outer of the Inner Hebrides. Sitting in the Gulf Stream, it is one of the sunniest spots in the UK. It is also the windiest spot in the UK too, with an average yearly wind speed of 18mph.
As you would expect, it has now become a mecca for windsurfing, with a perfect windsurfing spot to be found no matter the wind direction and swells arrive completely uninterrupted from the Atlantic.
